The story I imagined while drawing this was as follows:
These people didn't yet know each other four days ago, but now they're like they'd been friends always. They were travelling on a ferry, sailing from Athens to Tel Aviv, but the ferry broke down and they had to come to shore unexpectedly in Port Said, Egypt. They're killing time in a hostel, waiting for the next ferry that's due tomorrow. They're strangers united by a chance, but they all share the passion for seeing as much of the world as possible while they can.
This exact incident hasn't happened to me, but it's nevertheless one of the sorts of things that happen on regular basis while travelling, which just makes it all the more interesting.
I love the atmosphere, created by soft and dark colors, and the composition. One of the details that tickles my lips to smile is those cats hanging on the windowsill.
I love the composition because it isn't balanced. It has that tiny dynamic feeling in it. The people look very relaxed in the picture and time seems to move slowly.
Yes, endless night indeed. Or a moment when past or future become irrelevant.
I'm quite pleased with the colours myself, but I think I could have spent even more time polishing the tones and adding details. Oh well, it was done for fun..
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

If you have time you can create one tiny picture with tons of detail and another filled with feeling.
